OUR HISTORY In January 1987 Matthew Parker and seventeen African American leaders with financial and technical assistance by World Vision U.S. Ministry incorporated The Institute For Black Family Development. This organization was established as a result of Bill Moyer's documentary on a CBS nationally televised broadcast in March 1986 entitled, The Vanishing Black Family: A Crisis in America. OUR ORGANIZATION The Institute for Black Family Development is a 501 (c)(3) non profit Christian organization providing training and technical assistance. OUR GOAL The Institute for Black Family Development primary goal is to become a premier trainer in leadership development, management and fund raising skills for pastors, church leaders, executives, managers and other key staff members in Churches and Christian organizations. OUR INITIATIVES - ASSOCIATE OF ARTS in Family Life Education is a partnership with Great Lakes Christian College to provide an academic and career program designed to prepare adult learners for leadership and service in the Church and Christian Organizations.
- LIFT EVERY VOICE is a partnership with Moody Publishers to communicate the gospel message of Jesus Christ through publishing and developing materials that educate, edify and evangelize African Americans.
- PARKER PUBLISHERS is an iniative to educate, edify, and present Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
- THE DETROIT PARTNERSHIP is an initiative to enhance the quality of life of children and families through the spirit of collaboration by providing programs and services.
- THE PARKER FUND is a philanthropic initiative to support projects that focus on leadership development.
- THE PRESIDENTS INSTITUTE (Word) is an initiative to serve leaders from academic and Christian organizations.
- THE SUMMIT is an initiative providing training, technical assistance, products and services to Christian Leaders.
